Two June workshops in the San Francisco area look at historical and social influences on music of the baroque, medieval and Renaissance periods. Music and dance in the baroque, as seen through historian Charles Burney’s eyes, are the featured topics the week of 15-21 June. Burney was a feisty critic who wrote extensively.
Denver will play host to the National U.S. Performing Arts Convention from 10-14 June. Approximately 5,000 members will hear from 50 local and national organizations about techniques in management, governance, artistry, education and development for non-profit arts organizations.
27 June to 13 July 2008. The Oregon Bach Festival owes its existence to organist and conductor Helmuth Rilling. When Rilling first arrived in Eugene, Oregon in 1970, he organised a series of workshops followed by an informal concert.
