She sings cantatas by Alessandro Scarlatti and Vivaldi – Scarlatti’s "Infirmata vulnerata", written in Naples in 1702, and Vivaldi’s "Cessate omai cessate" which depicts the anguish and fury of unrequited love. The programme is completed by Italian baroque concertos by Dall’Abaco, Corelli, Mascitti and Geminiani directed from the harpsichord by fellow Italian Rinaldo Alessandrini.

The English Concert has recently appointed Harry Bicket as only the third artistic director in its 34-year history. Bicket has high expertise internationally in opera and oratorio and is keen that The English Concert works also with the world’s leading baroque directors to cover the widest range of repertoire. This collaboration with Alessandrini and Mingardo represents some of the first fruit of an exciting new era for one of the world’s finest baroque orchestras.
