On 15 March The Sixteen set off on their 2007 Choral Pilgrimage, which takes in 18 venues between then and 9 July, starting with Cambridge, Greenwich and Tewkesbury, and finishing in York.
The Sixteen’s Choral Pilgrimages have become an annual fixture, with a total of 12,000 people attending concerts last year. This year’s programme is of music closely linked to 16th-century Rome, by Palestrina, Anerio and Marenzio, and includes Allegri’s celebrated Miserere.
The Sixteen have recently finished recording most of the music to be heard on this pilgrimage. The CD, on their Coro label, will be released just before the start of the pilgrimage.
