In recent years there has been a significant increase in the audience’s interest in early music in the Nordic countries, especially in the baroque. This interest has also been reflected in an increase in the number of early music ensembles and concerts.
Thus, the Federation also aims to give these performers an international presence, stimulating exchange programs and serving as a representative platform before local authorities and the respective Ministries of Culture. The federation will soon set up a web page that can be reached at www.nordem.org.
The founding institutions of this federation are Vestfold Festpillene of Norway, Concerto Copenhagen of Denmark, Vantaa Baroque of Finland and the Stockholm Early Music Festival, the Swedish Early Music Society and the Vadstena Academy of Sweden.
