10 to 16 August 2008. The Vantaa Baroque Festival is undoubtedly the most important baroque music event to take place during the summer months in Finland. This year’s festival, scheduled from 10 to 16 August, will give Vivaldi’s music pride of place, with The Four Seasons naturally being performed in the opening concert given by the Collegium Marianum, a Czech music and dance ensemble that plays historic instruments.
4 to 8 June 2008. Stockholm Early Music Festival’s seventh season presents a rich buffet of concerts of the highest calibre. Concerto Copenhagen, the most highly acclaimed baroque orchestra in Scandinavia, will take the SEMF stage by storm, and Andrew Lawrence-King, the grand master of the baroque harp, will present a programme of lively Mediterranean dance music with his ensemble.
21 May to 4 June 2008. Although the Bergen International Festival is a wide-ranging event covering both music and theatre from all periods, the presence at this year’s festival of Norwegian baroque violinist Bjarte Eike as Musician in Residence ensures plenty of interest for early music devotees.
