In addition to the yearly programme of music, Urbino offers courses in performance for young musicians, as well as a fair for instrument-makers. The festival opens on 19 July and closes on 27 July.
The inaugural concert will be a performance of Guillaume Dufay’s Missa Sancti Jacobi by the Ensemble Reverdie. On 20 July, Il Suonar Parlante, under the direction of Vittorio Ghielmi, will offer a concert of works by Ruffo, Willaert, Arcadelt and Locke, among others. On 21 July, the duo formed by Roberta Invernizzi and Luca Pianca will perform a programme entitled "Tormenti e Palpiti", including works by Monteverdi, Strozzi, Ferrari and Cimarosa.
On 22 July, the quartet formed by C. Rufa (transverse flute), F. Vicari (violin), S. di Rocco (viola) and L. Piovano (violoncello) will perform a programme devoted to Mozart. On 23 July, the organist Francesco di Lernia will give a recital of works by Quagliati, Kerll, Zipoli and other composers. On 24 July, Temenuschka Vesselinova at the fortepiano will also present a concert of music by Mozart. On 25 July, Ensemble Zefiro, under the direction of A. Bernardini, will perform works by Handel, Telemann, Haydn and Mozart. The festival closes on 27 July with a concert by the FIMA Baroque Orchestra conducted by L. Coppola.
The series of master classes, beginning on 19 July and finishing on 28 July, include workshops covering a variety of instruments, as well as voice, dance and musicology, taught by leading specialists such as Lavinia Berlotti, Claudio Cavina, Marcello Gatti, Alfredo Bernardini, Stefano Montanari, Cristiano Contadin, Mara Galassi and Enrico Baiano, to name but a few of the more than 30 teachers taking part.
