This year, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the association ECHO (European Cities of Historic Organs), the French city will also play host to an international conference in which all the eleven cities forming part of the Association will participate. An important part of the programme is based on the so-called Midday Concerts, sessions scheduled to take place between 12:30 and 13 at the city’s different churches, involving both promising young organists and experienced performers.
The most important concerts will be held in the evening and this year a total of 12 sessions have been programmed, beginning with the inaugural concert on 28 September, containing works by Jean Langlais, Charles-Marie Widor and Louis Vierne by the soprano Anne-Laure Touya and the organist Michel Bouvard. A concert titled “L’Echo des Alpes” will take place on 30 September consisting of traditional music from German Switzerland performed by the Ensemble Alpbarock. On 4 October the concert “3 Danses en 2 Temps” will feature works by Jehan Alain and Maurice Durufle performed by the Capitolio National Orchestra of Toulouse and the organist Vicent Warnier, conducted by Fabien Gabel.
The programme “Ten Years of Les Elements” will be performed on 6 October, featuring the complete Bach Motets, performed by the Chamber Choir Les Elements and the Ensemble Jacques Moderne conducted by Joël Suhubiette. “Ombre et Lumière” (Light and Shade) is the title of the programme scheduled for 8 October with works by Vivaldi, Poulenc and Colliard performed by the Toulouse Chamber Orchestra conducted by Gilles Colliard, while “Nunc et Semper” is the title of an organ, voice and dance production by Florent Mamer set for the 11th.
The Festival concludes with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Choir conducted by Ton Koopman performing Bach’s B-minor Mass.
