December 2006-May 2007.
Carles Magraner to inaugurate the Festival with Victoria’s Requiem.- For the first time the Lyon Early Music Festival and Les Concerts de La Chapelle join forces to present an interesting early music program beginning in December and concluding in May 2007. The concerts will take place in various settings including the Chapelle de la Trinité, two museums (Musées des Tissus and de Beaux-Arts), the Salle Molière and the Primatiale Saint-Jean.

The initial part of the festival will take place from 1-20 December. A new version of Victoria’s Requiem performed by the Capella de Ministrers and the Cor de la Generalitat Valenciana conducted by Carles Magraner has been chosen for the inauguration, a program that was premiered last year in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York.

The festival continues on 2 and 3 December with Mozart’s “Great” C-minor Mass, K427 performed by the Ensemble of Lausanne. On 12 and 13 December the Savall-Hantai duo will perform works by Bach. On 15 December Karine Deshayes (mezzo) and the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie, conducted by Reinhard Goebel, will perform works by Handel, Bach and Telemann. On 16 December the Calmus Vocal Ensemble of Leipzig will introduce a programme of music for Christmas featuring works by Lassus, Pachelbel and Bach.

On 17 December Doulce Mémoire and Le Concert des Voix et des Instruments conducted by Denis Raisin-Dadre will give a programme titled “Music at the Court of Louis XIII”. The concerts recommence in February as part of Les Concerts de La Chapelle cycle. Four concerts have been scheduled to take place, one each month until May. They include: a recital of Opera Handel’s opera arias sung by contralto Sonia Prina with the Ensemble Matheus conducted by Jean-Christophe Spinosi (7 February); “Naples in the times of Farinelli”, with Magali Léger (soprano), Karine Deshayes (mezzo) and Les Paladins conducted by Jérôme Corréas (1 March); Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with the Maîtrise de la Loire, the Orchestre des Pays de Savoie, conducted by Graziella Contratto (19 April); and the programme “Viva Vivaldi!”, with soprano Nuria Rial and Capriccio Basel, conducted by Dominik Kiefer (10 May).
