The small town of Ribeuiville, situated in the French Alsace region, is known for its wines and a very beautiful architectural and natural setting. During the month of September it is also a meeting point for early music lovers, who are always treated to balanced and innovative programs, attractive offerings and an occasion to enjoy music and wine.
This year’s festival begins on 16 September with The Tallis Scholars under the direction of Peter Phillips in a program consisting of works by Isaac, Hassler, Praetorius and Schütz. On 24 September Concerto Köln will present the program "Mozart and his Friends" featuring works by Krauss, Richter and J. C. Bach in addition to Mozart. On 30 September Denis Raisin-Dadre’s Ensemble Doulce Mémoire will perform the program "Great Mass at the Chapel of the Emperor Rudolph II" including works by Alexander Orologio, Jacob Regnart, Philippe de Monte, Lambert de Sayve and Jacob Regnart.
On 8 October Paolo da Col’s Ensemble Odhecaton will perform the program "De Passione" consisting of music by Josquin Desprez. On 14 October the Ensemble L’Obsidienne, conducted by Emmanuel Bonnardotk, will present the concert "Adieu mes Amours…", including music by Obrecht. Claudio Cavina’s La Venexiana closes the Festival on 22 October with the program "Era la Notte…" with music by Monteverdi.
The concerts take place in the convent at Riquewihr or its Protestant church.
