This is an itinerant festival with the Gothic cathedrals and churches of the region as exceptional venues.
The concerts will be held in Amiens, Airaines, St Leu d’Esserent, Guise, Gerberoy, Noyon, Septmonts, Pierrefonds, Peronne, Soissons and Senlis. On 7 & 8 October the 7th Choral Competition will also take place, featuring selected choirs from Croatia, France, Finland, Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia.
Italian music is featured in this year’s festival, the theme of which is "Le Grand Tour ou le voyage en Italie". Les Sacqueboutiers inaugurate the Festival in Amiens Cathedral on 2 September with the program "Feasts in Venice". On 8 September Christina Pluhar’s L’Arpeggiata with mezzosoprano Stéphanie d’Oustrac will present a program of cantatas by Luigi Rossi. On 9 September Concerto Köln, under the direction of Anton Steck, will present the program "Mozart and his Contemporaries". A special concert series of Renaissance music will be held from 12-15. This will feature Cantus Cölln with "Music at the Court of Mantua" (12 September), Denis Raisin-Dadre’s Doulce Mémoire with "The Secret Concerts of the Ladies of Ferrara"(13 September), Ludus Modalis de Bruno Boterf with "Florence, the Medici Codex" (14 September); and Roberto Festa’s Daedalus with "Papal Rome, Music in the Sistine Chapel" (15 September).
The general program resumes with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra under the baton of Ton Koopman with works by Handel, Haydn and Muffat (16 September). On 22 September Marc Mauillon, baritone, and Daria Fadeeva, pianoforte will perform the program "Schubert & Liszt, Lieder with texts by Goethe". On 23 September Ludus Modalis and Bruno Boterf will perform a program of sacred songs by Paschal de L’Estocart. On 29 September Marion Fourquier’s Ensemble Poïésis will perform works by Strozzi, Cavalli and Marini. On 30 September the ensemble La Grande Chapelle will offer the program "From Rome to the Spanish Cathedrals" featuring music by Victoria. On 5 October Jean Tubéry’s La Fenice perform works by Lassus and Kapsberger, while on 13 October the choir Vox Cordis of Arezzo will present works by Palestrina and Liszt.
Finally, on 14 October Frans Brüggen’s Orchestre du XVIIIème with the soprano Carolyn Sampson are due to present an all-Mozart program.
