As in previous years, the Festival also continues its emphasis on the rediscovery of composers, this year featuring works bySchmelzer, Graupner and Mazzocchi, among others.
For the opening concert, Festival Director Patrick Lhotellier has selected a programme entitled "Music at the Ottoman and European Courts in the 17th century", performed jointly by a Turkish music group under the direction of Hakan Cevher and Jean Gaillard’s Ensemble Suonare.
The festival’s excellent, original and highly attractive programme includes five particularly interesting concerts. On 22 September, Françoise Lasserre’s Ensemble Akadêmia will perform Le memorie dolorose, rappresentatione sacra al SS. Sepolcro di Christo by Johann-Heinrich Schmelzer.
On 23 September the Festival will stage Marco Marazzoli’s opera sacra La Vita Humana in a performance by Vincent Dumestre and his ensemble Le Poème Harmonique. On 6 October, Antoni Salieri’s Mass in D minor and Mozart’s Requiem will be performed by the ensemble Arsys Bourgogne under the direction of Pierre Cao and the ensemble Stradivaria under the direction of Daniel Cuiller. On 8 October, Geneviève Soly’s Les Idées heureuses will present a programme entitled "Le Projet Graupner".
