The inaugural concert will be given by the duo formed by the viola da gambist Fahmi Alqhai and harpsichordist Alberto Martinez, who will perform Bach’s gamba sonatas. The second concert will be in the hands of soprano Raquel Andueza and More Hispano, conducted by the splendid flautist Vicente Parrilla, who will perform the evocative program “Yr a oydo”, based on the art of improvisation in Renaissance and early baroque music.
“Yr a oydo” is an unusual approach to early music performance in that all of the works included in the program are improvised. In this program Parrilla continues his pioneering work in the recovery and application of the art of improvisation in this repertoire, which undoubtedly brings something unique to the modern performance of early music. The Muestra concludes with the prestigious medieval ensemble ArteFactum’s new program under the generic title “In the Scriptorium”, an innovative approach to the Cantigas de Alfonso X. ArteFactum is part of an interesting Andalusian musical project bringing together groups specialising in different types of music.
ArteFactum’s aim is to restore all the freshness and spontaneity of the medieval repertoire and to treat each concert as a recreation of a journey back into the Middle Ages. The Muestra is organised by the Olivares Local Council, with the collaboration of the Diputación de Sevilla, Junta de Andalucía and Fundación El Monte, with coordination by the Zanfoñamóvil Society.
