13 to 20 September 2008. The Cáceres Early Music Festival is now in its ninth year and continues to grow and establish itself as one of the most important events in Spain’s early music calendar. With an extra push from the drive Cáceres is enjoying as a candidate to be European Cultural Capital in 2016, the festival has expanded to offer an entire week of music, with seven concerts featuring some of the best Spanish performers and researchers of early music.
16 to 23 August 2008. Of the events lined up for Bilbao’s 'Semana Grande', the concerts at La Encarnación church from 16 to 23 August take pride of place. The first concert, on 16 August, features La Orquesta de Contrabajos. They will be followed by La Caravaggia, the ensemble that was awarded the audience prize in the Belgian IYAP-Historical Wind Instruments competition at the prestigious Laus Poliphoniae Festival in 2007, who on 17 August will offer 'In mani dei catalani', a programme consisting of twenty-seven 16th-century pieces from Italian manuscripts and the Barcelona, Montecassino, Duque de Calabria and Palacio songbooks.
