Founded in 1997, Le Poème Harmonique has, with its unmistakable sound, made its mark in the musical world in a very short time. Vincent Dumestre and his colleagues have met with almost continuous success since the release of their celebrated Belleferonte Castaldi album on the Alpha label. Their secret? An artistic approach that refuses all compromise, an open-mindedness toward every aesthetic, and above all, a profound consideration of the rapport between music and the historic substratum that engendered it. Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, written in tandem by Lully and Molière, took the ensemble on a great adventure that can be considered one of the major events of recent times. This production is a symbol of their sheer determination, as it were, to leave no stone unturned. Goldberg spoke with Vincent Dumestre, a humanist of modern times.
