Founded in 1921, The Netherlands Bach Society has become a musical institution in Holland, performing regularly at festivals throughout Europe and collaborating with such legendary conductors as Sir Roger Norrington, René Jacobs, and Paul van Nevel.
This spring, the sixteen members of The Netherlands Bach Society -eight vocalists and eight instrumentalists- journey to Boston as part of a long-awaited North American début tour, showcasing their insightful interpretations of J.S. Bach alongside works by some of his most important contemporaries and predecessors, including Schelle, Kuhnau, and Buxtehude.
A highlight of this fascinating program is sure to be the dynamic recorder virtuoso Marion Verbruggen in a performance of the beloved Brandenburg Concerto No. 4. As Maestro Gustav Leonhardt proclaimed, "Oh, if Bach had had the Netherlands Bach Society!"
